I was where you are today, but that was nearly 20 years ago before oils were even a thing! I didn’t have a trusted friend to guide me, so I experienced a lot through trial and error. What I did know was that oils are a gift from the earth (that’s actually the meaning of the word doTERRA!) I believe God made our beautiful earth to contain everything we need to survive and thrive. What I didn’t know was that so many companies were motivated by greed, capitalizing on oils, hurting the environment, hurting farmers, hurting consumers. For example, did you know that there’s a HUGE difference in quality with oils? If you are like me, you start out seeking the lowest price oils. What I learned:

Mistake #1- Cost does not equal value. In an unregulated industry, anyone can put one drop of an inferior quality oil, perhaps containing contaminants, because who’s checking, and then dilute with a carrier oil. Since there’s a drop of pure oil they are calling the concoction pure. Who knew? I wasted a lot of money not knowing. My intention is to help you save money in the long run. So was it cheaper? Yes? Did I save money? No! Let’s analyze this. Several drops of inferior oil, possibly containing synthetics and chemicals in a 15 ml bottle vs. 285 pure drops of doTERRA essential oil in a 15 ml bottle. Which do you think will last longer? Which will be more potent? More effective? It’s so obvious; I just didn’t know to consider this, and likely you don’t either. The more you know… doTERRA pure essential oil is pennies per drop and you only need one drop.

The next problem with oils on the market today is that big businesses want profit. It can be a real money grab. Trends are observed and a hot trend right now is the essential oil market. Within any industry there are leaders and there are followers. doTERRA has set itself apart as a leader by setting high standards of purity and transparency. If you’re a mindful spender like me, this information and these practices will be meaningful to you. Something else I found important is that doTERRA's harvesting practices are very thoughtful and controlled. They only harvest when the timing is perfect. Quality over quantity here. Other companies produce a greater yield of less potent oil by harvesting when the time is not optimal for quality but rather optimal for quantity. doTERRA has heart. Their dream is far bigger than instant gratification. It’s long-game dreaming. It’s life changing dreaming. It’s mission focused business. The feeling is palpable. So the bottom line is I’m just not willing to take that chance. If I’m using an oil therapeutically and for healing, why on earth would I want to be exposed to chemicals, fragrance, fillers, etc.?
