Remember You Must Die

The whole lifetime of Adam was nine hundred thirty years; then he died.

-Genesis 3:5

What is a lifetime?  A lifetime is how long it takes for you to complete your role in God’s project in the world. A long life; a short life; we are called to holy indifference when it comes to preferring one or the other.

The Latin phrase, Memento Mori  is a reminder of our mortality. It translates to “remember you must die.”

How do you feel when you realize that our whole life is preparation for the life to come?  The finite aspect of every human life is one thing we all have in common. We will all experience an end to our time here on earth.  With this in mind, how are we living out our days?

This is no time to be complacent.

If I asked a room full of people to raise their hand if they want to go to heaven, undoubtedly all hands would go up. If I asked, “Who wants to go right now?”  can you picture how many hands are withdrawn immediately?

We need to decide what we believe  and act accordingly.  If  you don’t even want to spend a few moments in adoration of our God who created us to know, love and serve Him, why would you want to spend an eternity with Him?
